Traditional EGU Assembly

From 27 April to 3 May 2025, the EGU General Assembly (EGU25) brought together thousands of scientists and researchers for a week of inspiring sessions and presentations. This year’s event was a remarkable success, welcoming 20,984 registered attendees from 104 countries. Notably, 56% of all abstracts were contributed by Early Career Scientists, underscoring the growing engagement of the next generation of researchers in shaping our field.

We are pleased to announce that one of our members, Gordon Gilja, served as a convener of Session GM10.3, ‘Assessing geomorphological, hydrological and ecological processes in rivers to inform restoration of riverscape resilience.’ Focusing on bridging geomorphology, hydrology, and ecology in the context of practical restoration efforts, the session fostered insightful research exchanges and lively discussions that contributed to its great success. We look forward to continuing these valuable collaborations in the future — stay tuned for upcoming activities and publications.
