Suspended sediment monitoring

Type: DH59

Isokinetic suspended sediment sampler

Isokinetic sediment sampler collects sediment-laden water sample from the flow. Sample is captured in the bottle placed within the sampler

The illustrations below show how data is collected with an acoustic sensor and what the resulting result looks like.

Point samples are collected with sampler lowered to several points across the water column to measure vertical SSC profile.

Samples collected from single measurement point are processed to determine suspended sediment size and quantity of every sample.

Calculated suspended sediment concentrations over the flow depth are compared with concurrent acoustic/laser data to calibrate the real-time instruments.

Type: LISST-ABS

Acoustic sensor for measuring suspended sediment

Non-invasive acoustic sensor with real-time suspended sediment concentration measurement capability.

The illustrations below show how data is collected with an acoustic sensor and what the resulting result looks like…

LISST-ABS is lowered form the moving boat onto the fixed water depth and attached to isokinetic sampler.

During the measurement transect instrument measures suspended sediment concentration [g/l] for a single flow depth with 1Hz frequency.

Suspended sediment concentration is post processed with isokinetic samples into corrected data and integrated across the cross-section to calculate total suspended sediment transport [kg/s]
